Fun Corporate Team Building with MotoVentures
Many companies have hosted their business meetings with us over the years. Below are three companies who recently utilized us for their meetings. Unlike ordinary boring business meetings, these meetings were fun, productive, and memorable. Why not host your next meeting with MotoVentures? It's a great idea for a sales meeting, to reward Top-performers, and it's excellent team building too.
Yamaha Motor Corp, USA belongs to an association of other large famous brand companies who license their names for use on apparel and other products. This association meets annually and each time is hosted by a different member company. This year it was Yamahas turn and for their off-site meeting and naturally they choose a day of riding dirt bikes with MotoVentures. The attendees liked it so much they're considering it for their companies. That night the whole group attended the AMA Supercross at Anaheim Stadium, and to top it off, Yamaha's Chad Reed won it!
Desert Electric Supply in Palm Springs, CA distributes electrical supplies to contractors in their region. Five years ago Rick Felden came up with the idea of inviting about 15 of his contractors to join us for a day of riding dirt bikes with MotoVentures. He calls them Day in the Dirt events and now hosts five every year. At the end of each ride we hand out fun awards for Tough Luck, Most Improved, and Best Impression of a dirt bike rider. Rick says these contractors look forward to these events each year and would much rather purchase their supplies from someone who rewards them with an annual junket like dirt bike riding.
Who do Cycle World, Dirt Rider, and Cycle News magazines call when they want to host a day in the dirt for industry beginners and novices? They call MotoVentures, of course. Cycle World uses us to help prepare some of the ad reps attending their annual Trek Dual Sport Ride. Cycle News utilizes us for their annual Day in the Dirt event that they host at a local MX track for people who advertise with them. And recently MotoVentures joined Dirt Rider to work with invited advertisers who needed instruction at their annual Torture Test event.
New MotoVentures Tour Definitions:
MotoVentures now has a tour for almost everyone. With our new Training Tours we can take you and your family on a weekend of training, camping, and touring in SoCal. With our Dual Sport Tours we can take you and a group of friends on an unforgettable multi-day dual sport tour in the American Southwest. And with our Club Rides you can join other Level 3 riders for a scenic and challenging dual sport adventure. Isn't it about time you took a tour with us?
Training Tours are off-road only (no licenses required), and designed for beginners, dirt novices, and intermediates (skill levels 1 and 2). This new option is offered on select weekends at Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreational Area (SVRA) and designed to provide safe, fun, and responsible motorcycle adventures for the entire family. Day 1 you can learn to ride or take your existing skills to the next level in a natural terrain environment. That evening we can camp together in the great outdoors, enjoying dinner and reminiscing about the day's events next to a glowing campfire or you can stay in a nearby hotel. On Day 2, we'll continue training while also touring the miles of choice trails and tracks the area has to offer. Day 2 is designed to put to use what you learned the first day by trail riding on appropriate routes for each skill level. 2008 Training Tour dates: April 29 & 30, May 3 & 4, June 7 & 8, Oct 25 & 26, Nov 15 & 16, Dec 6 & 7.
Dual Sport Tours are for street licensed riders with skill levels 2 and 3 (dirt novices, intermediates, advanced) and cover two, three, or five days. You'll log plenty of miles, stop at all the best photo opportunities, have the option of tackling challenging obstacles along the way, all while basking in our pleasant, dry, southwestern weather. On a typical MotoVentures dual sport tour we'll start off the day with a hearty breakfast, enjoy a delicious lunch along the way and feast on the finest southwestern meals every evening. At the end of the trail each day, you can just kick off your boots, take a warm shower in your comfortable, clean and quiet hotel room, and then settle down to watch a spectacular sunset while recapping the day's events with newfound friends. Following a great dinner and a good night's rest, we'll do it all over again with fun new routes and another great destination. Next Dual Sport Dates: SoCal Mountains – June 21 & 22.
Club Rides are similar to our dual sport tours described above, except the riding is as challenging as it is scenic and requires skill level 3 riding abilities (experienced and advanced). To join us for one of these rides you must qualify by riding with us before or by passing our screening process, you must possess a motorcycle operators license and be in very good physical condition. These qualifications are important since the routes we take on these rides vary from pavement to very rugged single track trails. Club rides will be announced periodically and if you want to hear about them, please let us know us by email and we'll include you on our Club Ride list. Next Club Ride: May 30 – June 1.

Try Our New Scorpa Trials Bikes:
Scorpa is a French company that wisely utilizes Yamaha 4-stroke engines to create some very cool trials bikes. We couldn't resist and recently purchased a 2007 Scorpa 250F trials bike for you to try when you ride trials with us. Scorpa wedged a tried-and-true Yamaha YZ250F engine, highly modified of course, into a great looking trials bike. Naturally the Scorpa is a little heavier and has more engine braking than a 2-stroke, but it runs very smoothly, starts easily, idles, and generally is a fun trials bike to ride. We plan to have Scorpa's other trials bikes for you to try including their SY250 (2-stroke), TY-S125F, and TY-S125F Long Ride. We are now an authorized dealer for Scorpa and Gas Gas trials bikes, Garne & TCX Trials boots, and NZI trials helmets, so give us a call if you're in the market. We still have four Gas Gas 2-strokers until someone buys them (see our used bike list). We offer competitive prices and a free day of training with every bike purchase. You can buy our barely used 2007 Scorpa 250F now for only $6,500.

Riding Tip: How to Maintain Throttle Control
Throttle control is essential when riding motorcycles or you'll end-up like that guy in the movie On Any Sunday who plowed down his neighbor's mailbox and hedge when he was trying to ride for the first time. If you're having problems controlling the throttle, especially when riding standing up, you may be over pressurizing your right arm and wrist by leaning too far back or by trying to hold yourself up while also working the controls with over-stressed arms and hands (also increasing arm pump). The solution is to reposition your body forward so you can carry your upper body weight, and steer the bike, with your feet and lower body. When accelerating, lean forward slightly and keep your arms bent so you always maintain throttle control. When sitting, try to not sit too far back or slide back on the seat when accelerating, especially uphill, and always make sure to sit and lean forward when letting the clutch out.
